The Forex Tips

The forex tips below are all easy to do and all will help you achieve one aim increasing your overall profitability. So here are 5 forex tips for greater profits.

1. Use the Weekly Chart

I am amazed that most traders never bother looking at weekly charts but if you want to separate out “the wood from the trees” the weekly chart gives you a much clearer perspective.

The big trends are clearly visible on the weekly chart and if you are long term trend follower, start with this chart first and you will have a clearer view of support and resistance levels and entry points.

2. Cut Your Trading Frequency

This Forex tip addresses a major problem that most novice traders have – they trade too much.

They think they have to be in the market all the time and chase profits but the fact is, if you cut your trading frequency, you stand a better chance of success. Keep in mind; you only get paid for being right in forex trading - NOT for your effort and how often you trade!

By cutting your trading back, you can concentrate only on the high reward, high odds trades which give the best potential profits.I know traders who only trade a few times a year yet - they make between 120 – 430%! Annually.

Their simply trading the cream of the trades and ignoring the low odds, high risk ones and there are plenty of those.

If you cut your trading, you will probably see your profits soar.

3. Risk More Per Trade

This is directly related to the above point.

If you have a high odds trade take this tip and risk more.

You will read a lot of nonsense on the net about risking 2% per trade and no more.

Well, that’s fine if you are trading 100k but if you’re a small potato trader, trading 10k or less, that’s a maximum of $200!

If you have a small account you need to load up and risk 10 -20% on the high odds trades. Keep in mind if you don’t risk much you won’t make much!

To make meaningful gains you have to take risks – if you don’t like taking risks don’t trade forex.

4. Don’t Diversify

If you are trading a small account don’t diversify!

You need to load up as we have said above and concentrate on one trade only.

Diversification is simply another word for diluting profit potential and is something a small trader should not engage in.

5. Use an Account Profit Target

What s a realistic target to make per annum in forex trading?

You may have your own ideas - but if you made 100% that puts you up there with the best fund managers in the world.

You will often see people look at risk per trade but looking at your account overall and using a profit target is highly effective.

You will often see trades that give you big profits in short periods of time and if they are a substantial – i.e. more than 25% of your 100% bank them.

Have a break and start again.

If you hit your profit target for the year early - decide whether you should trade again at all or at the very least give yourself a deserved break.

The tips above are really saying:

Focus only on the best trades with the best odds, load them up and have a target -if you do the above, chances are you will make bigger profits.

Customer Support

Forex is a 24-hour market; therefore 24-hour support is essential. Can you contact the firm by phone, email, chat, etc? Do the customer support representatives seem to know what their on about? The quality of customer support can vary considerably from broker to broker, so be sure to check it out before opening an account.

One thing you could do is contact a number of forex brokers to get a feel of how quickly they can respond to enquiries. If they don't respond quickly, and with a reasonable answer don't give them your business.

Explaining The Term Technical Analysis

The study of a security's price action for the purpose of forecasting profitable price trends and movement is known as Technical Analysis. The price action is defined as movement in a security's price, volume, and open interest.

Technical Analysis is primarily, maybe not exclusively, conducted by studying charts of the recent past price action. Many different methods and tools are new in Technical Analysis, but they all rely on the superlative assumption that price patterns and trends exist in markets, and thus, that they can be identified and exploited too.

Technical Analysis does not try to analyze the financial data of a company, can say the cash flow, dividends and projection of future dividends, an area of analysis which is also known as the fundamental analysis. However, some speculators try to combine Technical Analysis as the elements from both technical and fundamental analysis.

Like any predictive method, Technical Analysis is not 100% accurate, but it surely attempts to give the presumable outcome. Some forms of Technical Analysis, like charting, are viewed by many of its practitioners as more art than science.

Some scholastic studies conclude that Technical Analysis has little predictive power while other studies show that the practice can produce excess returns too. For an instance, measurable forms of Technical Analysis non-linear prediction using neural networks have been shown to occasionally produce statistically significant prediction results.

Why Spreads?

The rationale behind spread trading is one of the best-kept secrets of the insiders of the futures markets. While spreading is commonly done by the market "insiders," much effort is made to conceal this technique and all of its benefits from "outsiders," you and me. After all, why would the insiders want to give away their edge? By keeping us from knowing about spreading, they retain a distinct advantage.

Spreading is one of the most conservative forms of trading. It is much safer than the trading of outright (naked) futures contracts. Let’s take a quick look at some of the benefits of using spreads:
• Intramarket, and some Intermarket, spreads require considerably less margin, typically around 25% - 75% of the margin needed for outright futures positions.
• Intramarket, and some Intermarket, spreads offer a far greater return on investment than is possible with outright futures positions. Why? Because you are posting less margin for the same amount of possible return.
• Spreads, in general, trend more often than do outright futures.
• Spreads often trend when outright futures are flat.
• Spreads can be filtered by virtue of seasonality, backwardation, and carrying charge differentials, in addition to any other filters you might be using in your trading.
• Spreads can be used to create partial futures positions. In fact, virtually anything that can be done with options on futures can be accomplished via spread trading.
• Spreads allow you to take less risk than is available with outright futures positions. The amount of risk between two Intramarket futures positions is usually less than the risk in an outright futures position. The risk between owning the underlying and holding a futures contract involves the least risk of all. Spreads make it possible to hedge any position you might have in the market. Whether you are hedging between physical ownership and futures, or between two futures positions, the risk is lower than that of outright futures. In that sense, every spread is a hedge.
• Spread order entry enables you to enter or exit a trade using an actual spread order, or by independently entering each side of the spread (legging in/out).
• Spreads are one of the few ways to obtain decent fills by legging in/out during the market Closing.
• Live data is not needed for spread trading, saving you $ in exchange fees.
• You will not be the victim of stop running when using Intramarket spreads

The Doubling Down Forex Trading Strategy

This article is to discuss using mathematical probabilities to your advantage in a successful forex trading system. I'll try to make it simple to explain.

If you have a trading system that utilizes a 100 pip target (TP) and 100 pip stop loss (SL), it should have a 50/50 chance of winning if trades are entered at random over time. It'd be like flipping a coin. The TP and SL would have to be adjusted since you are closer to the SL as soon as you enter a trade. But let's keep it simple theory for now.

If we enter a trade that is equidistant from the SL and TP then there should be a 50% chance of being correct. I will then assume that by actually looking at the general trend or market activities of a currency that we can give us a system that is more than 50% successful or at least 50% successful if my first assumption was incorrect.

The probabilities haven't come into play yet though. I'm asking now what are the chances of a 50% correct currency trading system having consecutive losers?

If I remember correctly from college we have a 50/50 chance on each trade to be right and wrong when we view them as independent events.

When we try to find the probability of having 5 losing trades in a row, however, the chance of that happening is then:

.5 X .5 X .5 X .5 X .5 = .03125 or 3.125%.

Doesn't happen too often, although still very possible.

If our trading system is successful 60% of the time due to our simple chart reading predictions then the chance of having 5 losers would be 40%^5th power.

.4 X .4 X .4 X .4 X .4 = .010124 or 1.0124%.

Still possible, although with some discretion we've effectively lowered the risk of losing 5 times in a row by a factor of 3.
